I HAVE BEEN ASKED TO BE ON THE ORGANISATIONAL TEAM FOR A FAMILY / COMMUNITY VISION QUEST THIS YEAR, TAKING PLACE FROM AND IN-BETWEEN 12-20 OF AUGUST, LOCATED IN THE USA. THIS WILL BE A DEEP OPPORTUNITY TO PURIFY, CLARIFY, PRAY FOR , AND CELEBRATE LIFE. THE FIRST 2 DAYS ARE PREPARATION, PURIFICATION AND MAKING THE OPENING PRAYER, THEN 4 NIGHTS IN THE FOREST, FOLLOWED BY RETURNING BACK TO THE CAMP FOR CLOSING PURIFICATION AND PRAYER, AND A DAY OF REST AND INTEGRATION.
Vision Quest ( Hanbleycha, crying for a vision ) is a ceremony which originates in the indigenous cultures of North America, a period of days ( 4 in this case ) given to prayer, solitude, and fasting. It is a profound experience which many consider to be a rite of passage or an initiation.
For those who wish to join the Vision Quest, this will require some preparation which my role is to help guide, and around a week of your time. Spaces are limited.
If you wish to visit and support the prayer in order to gain more knowledge and learning of what it is, that is also possible, as support is a key part of the prayer, helping to hold that space for those who are making their offering to the Great Spirit of Life. All those who choose to quest are invited to invite one supporter to come with them, should they wish.
This space is also open to families, as we will be making camp for a week, however, in the case of the space that the quest is taking place, rooms are also available to rent, if camping is not your thing. This is a good opportunity to learn, to come together in community to support a prayer for life. For those in the supporter camp, there will be additional prayers made during the time our brothers and sisters are in the forest, including Inipi, or sweat lodge ceremony.
